It’s Patio Party time with these easy DIY ideas! My friends at Fairfield World challenged me to create stunning patio decor using their products. So they sent me a box of stuff and I started to create.
First, I checked out my stash and found some leftover fabric that I had from a 2016 tablescaping project for my brother’s wedding in Hawaii. It was the perfect combo for my patio party and it fit the casual, outdoor theme I was going for.
When I got the box from Fairfield, it had a gigantic pillow form, Project Fleece, Poly-fil, and Solarize Thermal Insulating Barrier Fabric in it…after seeing what was sent, I let my imagination go! I just wanted to see what I could make and how my vision come to life! Afterall, that’s the best part about being a “maker”.
With the products they sent, I decided to knock out the pillow first since that is something I can do in no time. Pillows are my go-to when I need to create a new look in any room. Now, knowing I wanted to incorporate both fabrics – blue and green leaves – from the tableset to the chairs in my patio update; I added the blue wrap embellishment on the pillow to tie it all together.
Next, I measured the teakwood chairs we have on the patio and created a pattern to make chair cushions…. I gotta be honest, the wood chairs do get a little hard when you sit on them for a long period of time! I wanted to cushions to mimic something you would buy a the store, so I made sure they were one piece, I added ties and lots of cushion. For the stuffing I used a blend of the Project Fleece and Poly-Fil. My husband says they are a little over-stuffed but in time they will flatten out so I added zippers to each cushion so I can always add more fill. I say, GO BIG or GO HOME!
Next, onto the Solarize Thermal Insulating Barrier Fabric. This product is so awesome! I am thrilled to be able to incorporate it into my table service. But what to make? The Thermal Insulating Barrier Fabric can be used with the silver side out or in, and, used to keep things hot or cold. So I opted for both.
Since I do a ton of cooking and like my food hot, I decided to make an insulated casserole carrier. I used to leaf theme fabric with a layer of Project Fleece and topped it off with insulated fabric. My casserole dish sits in there to stay warm plus it keeps from burning your fingers on a hot dish when it’s straight from the oven!
And because we like to drink a chilled glass of white wine, a wine bottle holder seemed like a good idea. After I figure out how I wanted to fit the wine bottle, I used the blue themed fabric layered with Project Fleece and the insulated fabric. The zipper closure was a last minute addition because I sewed the bottom circle on the wrong side… but in the end, the zipper makes it easy in and easy out with a snug fit.
Needless to say, the insulted fabric did it’s job! The casserole stayed warm and the wine stayed cold!
Finally, I created the table runner from the blue fabric and turned the leaf themed fabric into napkins to finished the Patio Party!
And there you have it, a perfectly placed patio ready for a PARTY! Stay safe and healthy everyone! HAPPY HEARTS = HAPPY HOME!
