Social media is ever changing and if you’re like me, you need to keep up so here are my picks for today’s top trends to keep your finger on the pulse of pop culture
#1 De-influencing
It’s my favorite kind of social media expert… the de-nfluencer!!! You’ve heard of all these people making ton money posting about their favorite brands and after years of influencers pushing cosmetics, clothes, and whatever else to the masses….Well, a new group is now telling people what not to buy. They’re called “de-influencers.”
What exactly is de-influencing?
The term refers to people speaking critically about products on a platform where endorsements run rampant. De-influencing videos steer consumers away for certain products to discourage others from spending money on something they give the thumbs down to.
It’s about time “influencers” are swinging back to the creating accountability between themselves and their audiences.
#2 Online dating AI help
No need to make small talk… the newest trend in online dating has artificial intelligence doing the flirting for you. Direct from the research lab that created chatgpt, the new ai flirting support tool called yourmove ai is helping singles get dates.
The app is giving people “flirty,” “funny” and “formal” messages – for opening lines and replies. For example, is the user is looking for a “flirty intro message” the app suggests something like:
“Hey there. I couldn’t help but notice you from across the room and wanted to come say hi. Can I buy you a drink?”
Or
“Based on your profile you’re very attractive. I’m not sure if that’s a very good thing or a very bad thing?”
Or
“Rate yourself: on a scale of 1 to my pillow, how good a cuddler are you?”
Alright alright… those are not very good but the developers said it’s a starting point and they urge you to make some tweaks before you hit send.
Oh yeah, and you can add breakup lines to your app but …they are part of the premium subscription, which costs $14.99 a month and then you can have a robot break up for you too!
#3 Getting dirty with a Loofah
Loofah sponges may clean your body — but some residents from the florida retirement complex “the Villages” say, they’re sign that people are getting down and dirty.
The retirees are displaying various colored loofahs on their cars and golf carts to signify that they are swinging single and they are ready to mingle.
Each color represents something different…it’s called “loofah code” loofahs come in seven different colors
White is for beginners and black is for those who want it all at the complex. Other colors, like teal, are apparently reserved for those who identify as bisexual. Purple is for those who like to watch.
Although one of the retirement complex workers disagrees with the code these retires are sending out and said, “trust me, all the people I have met are definitely not swingers as most can barely stand without assistance.”
This trend is reminiscent of the old upside down pineapple in your grocery cart signal for singles and swapping out the color of your drink stir on a cruise if you’re looking for a hookup.
