Create a steamy table for two when you upcycle an old nightgown.
Don’t toss out that red hot nighty you wore last year, turn it up and turn it into sizzle hot placemats for this year’s romantic dinner. It’s easy to spice up the night when you upcycle that old nightgown into this year’s table decor. With a few easy steps and a whole lotta love you can make sure dinner isn’t the only thing that is hot.
SUPPLIES:
Red nightgown
Sewing machine
Iron-on transfer paper
Photo of you and your love
MAKE IT:
What do you need? Some lingerie or nighty from last year or maybe one from the relationship that didn’t work out. You wouldn’t dare wear it again, but it’s still sassy and sexy!
First cut the sides of the nightgown open and cut off any lace or embellishments from the lingerie.
Decide on the size of the placemat you want or simply measure a placemat you have in the kitchen and use those dimensions to cut out the same size from nightgown material.
You will cut two pieces for each placemat. If you don’t have enough of the old nightgown material, use alternate fabric for the back of the placemat.
On the top piece of your placemat and nighty material, use the lace panels to layer over the material to create a border effect. You can also save the lacey bits to add to the placemats as embellishments or use as silverware pockets and napkin holder.
Next, wIth the right sides facing each other, sew all sides of the material leaving a 4″ inch opening.
Turn the placemat right sides out and press.
Finally, print out a photo of you and your Valentine using iron-on transfer paper. I edited my picture on a photo app to create the heart shape and emailed it to myself for printing. Just follow the directions on the transfer sheets to iron-on to the material.
Peel away the backing to adhere the photos with an iron. Press according to package directions.
Finally, wait for it to cool down so you can get heat it up over a romantic dinner for two and rediscover your lover!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
