Make your own lavender scented eye mask for better relaxation. Eye masks come with so many benefits like calming effects, sleep improvement, and the reduction of cortisol levels while increasing melatonin. This project is easy and the lavender works as an anxiety reliever to quiet the mind and body while increasing calm. Everyone is under so much stress these days, so give yourself or a friend the gift of relaxation by making this DIY scented eye mask.
Add the rice and essential oils
First, add one cup of rice or bird seed to a quart sized Ziploc bag and add five to ten drops of essential oils. After adding the scent, mix the contents of the bag until the seeds are completely covered in the essential oil. Let the seeds sit for a while and continue on to cutting the fabric.
Cut out the fabric
Next, cut out one 10×10 inch square and fold it with the right sides of the fabric together.
With the folded right sides of the fabric together, sew the pieces of fabric together. First sew the long pieces and then one of the short ends. Turn the fabric inside out and you will have an empty bag to fill.
Make a funnel from scrap paper and fill the bag
To fill the bag, make a funnel from leftover scrap paper. This makes it a mess free project! Fill the empty back with the seed mixture.
Stitch the bag closed
Finally, turn the opening edges in and pin it in place. Use a top stitch to stitch it closed.
There you have it, a really easy way to make a scented eye mask. This makes a great gift for a friend or family member and can be great to help you relax after a long day. Take a deep breath and relax!
