Recycled Glass Jars

Recycle Glass Jars into beautiful containers and help the environment.

At home crafting is playing a significant role in life these days.  It can beat the boredom blues, calm your mind, lower stress and improve your overall wellness. Plus, that sense of satisfaction you get knowing that you made it yourself!  So let’s get craftastic and make decorative utensil containers from all those emptied glass jars and I know you have some empties.  Let’s make it!

Emptied glass jars

Supplies:

  • glass jars with the labels off
  • paint and brush (optional)
  • burlap ribbon
  • twine
  • hot glue
  • embellishments like gemstones, letters, flowers, buttons

Supplies for making the repurposed jars

Make it:

First, wrap a piece of burlap ribbon around the jar and glue in place.  An alternate idea would be to paint the jar first with acrylic paint and once it’s dry you can add a ribbon wrap over it so the paint shows at the top and bottom of the jar.  I am going to leave the jar as is and completely cover it with with ribbon and twine.

Next, wrap a secondary accent piece of ribbon or burlap around the jar.

Glue secondary ribbon on the jar

Cover the top ridges of the jar by wrapping twine around the top and securing it in place with glue.

Adding twine to cover the top of the jar

Finally, embellish the burlap covered jar to create an eye-catching design. I am using an old piece of jewelry. You can also use ribbon, buttons, gemstones, flowers or letters. This is the FUN part!

These geniusly simple, recycled glass jars make great hostess gifts, kitchen utensil holders, mantel decoration, and even makeup brush containers.

This easy diy project is is something any skill level can do and it’s also a great way to recycle something you would typically throw in the trash. So upcraft those old jars and do your part to help the environment.  Now go make it!
