These playful pom poms are the perfect embellishment for your handbags. You can make them in many colors and change up your look everyday. OR, if you are a bookworm these pom poms double as cheery bookmarks! Once you get the hang of it they are super simple to make and…sort of addicting!
Grab your granny’s bag of yarn, a piece of card board and pair of scissors and your ready to go!
Select your yarn and wrap it around the piece of cardboard. The more you wrap the more dense your pom pom will be. Also, depending on the thickness of the yarn you may need to wrap more or less. I wrapped anywhere from 80 to 100 times around.
Slide the yarn off the cardboard and tie it with an extra piece of yarn. Then, from the spool of yarn tie another piece to the already wrapped ball. Give yourself some slack (So how far do you want between the two pom poms? Decide if you want the strings long for more dangling or shorter for a smaller purse or book.) and start wrapping again.
Slide the second side off the cardboard and tie it up with the attached string…you may want to use an extra piece of yarn just to make sure it’s tightly tied.
Cut the loops with scissors on both sides of each ball then give it a “haircut” to shape the pom pom.
There you have it, fashion with out breaking the bank! Keep one for yourself or make them for all your friends as stocking stuffers and holiday gifts!
