OSCAR-worthy DIY Table Decor for your Red Carpet Party
From the champagne bottle to the champagne glassware, the stars on the red carpet to the votive candles lighting up the Hollywood sign…I’ve got your table covered with glam-to-go OSCAR gold! People won’t ask “who are you wearing?”, they’ll ask “who made all this?”
Let’s start with the red carpet… you need one yard of red material for a center table runner. That’s it, really, that’s it! Ok, moving on, why not get star-struck and add some to the table while you’re at it. Yes! All you need is gold paper and a star stencil cut out. Easier than getting signed by an agent in LA.
Hooray for Hollywood… with the marquee letters so trendy right now, and also so expensive, why not make your own? But be sure to save some space for those fabulous red carpet stilettos you have your eye on… use them as candy bowls! Wow, clever idea!
Back to Hollywood! Grab basic wooden stencil cut-outs – they usually hang on the wall – and glue them to a piece of foam core board. They’ll stand right up and make a perfect backdrop for your OSCAR table, just like the Hollywood Hills!
Time for some bubbly with a little glitz and glam… it’s easy when you have spray adhesive, gold glitter and a dry bottle of champagne. Now this one can get messy so put down a drop cloth and get ritzy!
Spray the bottle with adhesive spray and sprinkle each section with gold glitter. Start with small sections so you don’t get glue and glitter all over the work space. Repeat until you like the richness of the gold. Spray with aerosol hairspray to set the loose glitter and let sit for 24 hours.
Forget the tux and tails and just wear a bow-tie… well maybe your glassware can! Add a homemade bowtie to the stem of all your glassware for the big event!
Your candles can be forgotten. Give a hue of light thru old film exposures! Just wrap a votive candle with negatives you have laying around in your photo box. C’mon, I know you have plenty of negatives laying around from the 90s! And you’re saving them for??? Right, this table top decor!
You can forget the director, heck, he’s the guy that made you look good after all those “takes”…so create a Clapper Board snack sack!
You need black scrapbook paper, a white paint marker and 1″ paper fasteners. Fold the paper in half, glue the edges together, write the theme of your snacks on the paper, create the clapper arm and fasten it to the top of the folder paper sack. As easy as “Take 1,2,3…”
I’d like to thank the Academy! Don’t forget OSCAR himself! Cut-out a miniature OSCAR statue from gold paper and add it as a topper to any sweet treats! Then everyone wins!
