Make your own Flag Shirt

Celebrate the USA with this super cute Flag shirt!

Get your fabric paint out and a white tee shirt to celebrate FLAG DAY with this quick, fun and easy craft you can do with the kids for any patriotic holiday!

SUPPLIES:
  • red, white, and blue fabric paint
  • 1″ paint brush
  • white t-shirt

Be sure to lay the shirt on a solid, flat surface. You may want to use small sandbag weights on four or more edges of the shirt to keep it on the table.

Start by creating the handprint for the blue stars area of the shirt. Add a dollop of blue fabric paint to the palm of your hand and cover your hand completely with paint. The easiest way to do this is to  rub both hands together….this is the messy part! But FUN too!

TOP TIP: keep a few paper towels near by for clean up and be sure not to touch the other parts of the shirt with your other hand!

When looking at the shirt, press your left hand on the upper left chest to create a handprint which will serve as the “stars and stripes” of the flag.  Now go wash your hands clean!

Next, using your paint brush and red fabric paint, paint a thick line across the front of the shirt starting at the top and work your way down the shirt.  Be sure to leave white space between the red lines so you can create the “stripes”.

Let it dry and you have a one-of-a-kind flag shirt!
