Jane Clauss talks to Sean Armstead with Phenomenal Fitness about different compound exercises that can help improve work capacity, strength, mobility, and coordination to lead to a healthier life. Here are 3 compound exercises that lead to a robust life.
Compound exercise takes exercise to the next level and leads to a healthier life. It works many muscle groups at once which allows for muscle mass to be built quicker and can increase strength and coordination. Compound exercise can also burn a lot of calories because it requires more energy to do them. Here are three compound exercises to include in your next workout.
1. Reverse lunge side circle-
A reverse lunge side circle can be done with dumbbells to add more of a challenge to the workout. It is important to keep your core engaged and your back straight. This is a great way to work your glutes, quads, and abductors.
2. Crossback Lunge-
This is a great way to engage the legs, quads, glutes, shoulders, triceps, rotational front muscles, and hamstrings. A crossback lunge is a great way to gain lower and upper body strength while improving balance and coordination.
3. Lateral Lunge-
A lateral lunge targets the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and abductors and is great for strengthening the lower body. It is important to keep the core engaged and is great for improving balance and coordination.
Even though it is important to use compound exercise, they should only be done 2-3 days per week. Isolated movements are still important to use in workouts. These are compound exercises that lead to a robust life and will help you live healthier.
