Inspired DIY Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

With a little inspiration you can create a one of a kind DIY gift for the mom in your life!

Matriarch Mom

Let’s start with moms that are the center of the universe for their families; what do they want? Well, they want to be reminded of their nearest and dearest. So, plan a family DIY activity for Mother’s Day and have every one participate in making a family tree, hand-print, wall hanging. This way she can sit back and admire her homegrown forest!

You can also make her a photo block with pictures of the kids on all six sides. This is a cute home dec item that can sit on her desk or book shelf. Just decoupage a plain wooden block – that can you find at any craft store – with copies of old and new photos. Top it all off by creating a scrap book collection of love letters from Dad, emails will work and by the way, it’s better than a romance novel.

Fitness Mom

If you’ve got a mom who loves to hit the mat, go for a run, or swing her way to fitness on the court, these easy do it yourself ideas will make her endorphins run even higher. Give her a collection of items she will find handy for her workouts like a yoga mat holder made from long piece of ribbon, a crochet a water bottle holder, and a head band from an old t-shirt.

Pampered Mom

If mom likes to be spoiled, create the perfect day starting with breakfast in bed served on a custom tray table runner using fabric and an iron-on greeting, along with a chalk board coffee mug for a personalized message.

Then, let her melt away the stress with at home spa gifts. First, make homemade bubble bath and bath salts and scented, oil infused hot or cold packs.

Top Chef Mom

If your mom loves to cook, make her some useful tools for the kitchen! She will love simple finger sized hot pads made from fabric and layers of heat resistant batting inside. You can also help mom stay organized in the kitchen with a custom recipe box made from an old cigar box. Now her “go to “ recipes at her finger tips. Most cigar stores have loads of left over boxes and are usually generous to give them away.

Styled Mom

If your mom loves clothes and shoes, help her out in the closet with a set of fabric wrapped hangers. These are so easy to make, wrap old wooden or plain hangers with fabric, secure the edges with some glue, add some pom poms, tassels or jewel to the top and you’re done.

Or if you want to be more practical, get plastic bins for her shoes and stick a photo of the shoes on the outside. That’s a step in the right direction.

And finally, if there is no time to make mom a gift, the best gift of all is your love. Show up with a smile on your face and tell her how much she means to you. Happy Mother’s Day, Happy Everyday.
