Does dear old dad have a few holiday ties laying around his closet? Give him a new way to collect spilled gravy this Christmas and make your own DIY holiday necktie table runner. This project will be sure to elevate your table this Christmas by giving it a unique, festive take on a table runner.

This project does not require many supplies and you probably already have them around your house. You will need red, green, or holiday themed neckties and a sewing machine.

1-Find the perfect layout

First, pick out the ties to be used in the table runner. Pick out different colors, patterns, and fabrics to create a unique keepsake out of those old ties, and then find the perfect layout. Arrange them by putting one down with a pattern and then having the next be a solid color.

2-Arrange the ties

Next, arrange each of the ties by laying the skinny end to the fat end and then the fat end to the skinny end. Make sure to overlap the edges a little and pin each of them together.

3-Start sewing

Use a sewing machine to stitch the ties together by stitching in a straight line from on end to another until each of the edges are sewn down.

This festive table runner is perfect for the next family Christmas. It serves as the perfect keepsake by using dad’s old ties, while also adding a festive, elevated look to the table.
