It’s a great way to remember your achievements and get cozy at home! Let’s make it.
Supplies:
- Graduation gown
- University or College T-shirt or accent fabric
- Sewing machine
- Fairfield World Pillow Form
- Tassle from the Graduation Cap (optional)
- Measuring Tape
- Scissors
- Straight pins
Make it:
Using a rotary cutter and straight edge cut the front of the top of your gown into a square the same size as the pillow form. You can also just cut the straight edges with scissors. If you’re using a 16 inch pillow form cut the top of your gown into a 16 inch square, if your pillow for is 20 inches cut the top of the gown into a 20 inch square. You get the idea!
Next, cut the same size square using the logo side of your University, College of High school T-shirt. If you don’t want to cut into a shirt you can always use a complimentary accent fabric.
Use a piece of fabric from the gown remnants to fill in the v-neck section of the gown. Sew it in place along the V-neck line.
Open the zipper of the gown just a little bit and with right sides of the gown and t-shirt fabric facing each other, sew the square all the way around. Clip the corners to remove the bulk.
Clip the corners to remove the bulk.
Turn the new pillow cover right side out pulling it thru the zipper opening.
Insert your pillow into the gown cover and zip it up!
Bonus tip, add the cap tassel as a cool pull to the zipper! Job well done!! This is great way to upcraft your graduation gown and turn it into memorable home decor!
