Gifting Made Easy with these Fabric Wrapped Hangers
This is the perfect DIY gift idea for Mother’s Day, a house warming gift, to add in a touch of handmade with the gift of a new blouse, or for the fashionista who just loves to add to the closet!
Lets gets started!
Supplies:
- inexpensive hangers
- fabric scraps
- glue gun & glue sticks
- scissors,
- tassels and pom poms
Make it:
First make sure the hangers are clean and dry. You can use old wooden hangers, plastic hangers with a smooth edge, or in this demo we are using felt hangers that were bought in bulk.
Cut strips of fabric about 1 inch wide and 20 – 30 inches in length. It doesn’t have to be exact but this sze helps it not to pucker and get bulky as you wrap. To make it easier to cut use a straight edge and rotary cutter. It also speeds up the process!
Add a dab of glue to the end of the hanger and wrap the fabric around it.
Be sure to overlap the edges of the strips as you go and keep it snug.
After a few wraps add a small dab of glue to secure it and continue wrapping the hanger. You may have to use a second strip of fabric to finish the hanger, depending on the size of the hanger and how long you cut the strips.
Secure the end with another dab of glue.
Once you finish a complete set of hangers, add embellishments. Here we are using a tassel and a pom for a little decoration.
You can use other embellishments like gems, ribbon, letters… whatever fits your personality and closet!
And there you have it a set of wrapped hangers for yourself, a friend, your mom, or a neighbor. Just remember, the best gift of all is your love.
