DIY Rocket Candy Bags for the Fourth of July

Light up the party with these adorable DIY rocket candy bags and start the firework early this Fourth of July!  They’re fun to make, super festive, and the perfect treat for kids (and grown-ups too!). Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ or heading to a neighborhood celebration, these patriotic party favors are guaranteed to spark some smiles.

What You’ll Need:

• White paper lunch bags

• Red, white, and blue washi tape

• Red cardstock (cut into circles for rocket tops)

• Silver metallic pipe cleaners

• Star stickers

• Paper scissors

• Candy or small treats

• Glue

How to Make Rocket Treat Bags:

1 – Cut the bag: Start by cutting off the bottom of the paper bag and down one side to create a 9×9-inch square. Lay the bag flat.

2 – Decorate with washi tape: Wrap the cylinder with alternating strips of red, white, and blue washi tape to create a festive stripe pattern. Cover the entire bag, then add star stickers all over for extra sparkle.

3 – Create the rocket body: Tape the long edge of the paper together to form a cylinder, leaving both ends open.

4- Twist and fill: Tightly twist one end of the bag and secure it with washi tape. Fill the open end with your favorite candy or small toys. Then twist the open end and tape it closed, just like the first side.

5 – Make the rocket top: Cut halfway into your red cardstock circle until you reach the center. Overlap the cut edges to form a cone shape and glue in place.  Using the center as a point, overlap the edges of the circle to make a cone. Squeeze a dab of glue inside the point of the cone and place it over one of the twisted ends of the bag.

6 – Add the sparkle: Stick silver pipe cleaners into the other twisted end for a sparkler effect. You can curl them for extra flair!

Display or Gift It!

Make several and place them in a big decorative bowl for a patriotic centerpiece, or hand them out as party favors. They also make a great grab-and-go gift if you’re attending a Fourth of July bash.
